Open Question: Ideas and help for sociology conflict essay (Overdependence on technology VS Advancment in Technology)?

Monday, April 7th, 2008

I have a essay paper to do and i am lost in where i am
right now, this is what i have as my topic sentence

“The raging sociological conflict between people’s overdependence on technology and advancement in technology increased problems in health, family, social, economic, finance.”

If anyone can help me improve the sentence, go ahead and thanks.

Also for ideas, i want to get some personal ideas from you people by answering some these questions. (if it doesn’t apply, then ignore it) (some questions are to get statistics)

-How does the quick advancement in technology affect your daily life?
-How long do you spend on the computer? phone?
-How much money do you spend on technology?
-What would you do if electricity died for a week?
-How is this a conflict?
-Is society justified for implementing advancement in technology to prevent or remove overdependence?
-Does this conflict create deviance within society?
-Why does society view this as a conflict and how can it be dealt with?

Open Question: Should women always get alimony in divorce?

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Ok I was arguing with a friend of mine about this awhile back. I want to get other peoples opinions.

In certain cases, I think that a woman should get alimony, like when they divorce after a lengthy time period in which she helped raise the kids by staying at home.

I think in those cases she should get alimony. He says that there shouldn’t be alimony at all. So he votes for no in every case.

I think that women should always have something going on the side, even if they meet mr. wonderful like have a part-time job while raising a family. So that way you can earn your own money and manage your own finances.

So if you ever get divorced, then you have your own money and won’t need to ask for alimony.
Its not my bf, its just a guy friend that I was debating with.

Open Question: Help with this Paragraph Correction please!?

Monday, April 7th, 2008

I’m usually good at corrections like this, but my grade is depending on it so I wanted all the help I could get. It’s urgent, please help me. Here it is:

My brother and me were in 1st grade at Barnes elementary school. We cutted black outlines of our adorable, childlike profiles, pasted it on white sheets of paper and proudly took it home to our Mom and Dad. The word silhouette comes from Etienne de Silhouette the minister of finance in France in 1759. Silhouette tried to place new taxes on the rich, and initiate a cutback in expenses for the royal family, who were not known for his thrifty ways. This did not make Silhouette popular in some circles and he was soon forced out of office. As a hobby Silhouette mad shadow portraits. People likes them but they were often considered art “on the cheap,” and they became known as “silhouettes.”
